Love and Quinn named as Milk Cup managers for 2012
Gerry Love and John Quinn have been named as the Fermanagh Milk Cup managers for the forthcoming year with the pair having been appointed on Tuesday night. Current Irvinestown Wanderers manager Gerry Love has been appointed as the manager of the Junior team while Ballinamallard United Under 18s manager John Quinn will take charge of the Premier side for the world renowned competition.
Following a series of interviews and discussions with all candidates, the interview panel of chairman Dessie Kerr, treasurer Gary Coulter and secretary Sam Gamble, assessed all of the candidates and Gamble stated that they were pleased with the appointments.
"We were delighted with the quality of the candidates that were interviewed. We were enthused on the positivity and passion shown by each of the candidates and feel that this will have a positive impact on youth football in Fermanagh."
He added: "We are delighted with both appointments and feel that both managers bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to their roles which will ensure both teams should be well prepared for this year's special tournament."
On the interview process, he commented: "The interview process went well with Gerry being appointed out of a number of candidates. However due to the shortage of candidates for the role of Senior team manager we decided to keep our options open and approached a few people to enquire if they would be interested in the role."
"We are delighted that John was in a position to take up the role, particularly as he has worked with this age group for a number of years with a lot of success."
Love was last involved in the Fermanagh Milk Cup setup as manager of the Junior side back in 2009 and he is delighted to be back this year.
"Personally, I'm delighted to be given the opportunity again to manage at the Milk Cup and I'm really looking forward to it," he said.
Ballinamallard coach Quinn was last involved as manager in 2007 as Junior manager.
Both managers will now look to confirm their backroom staff and organise trials to start the process of identifying the 18 players who will represent County Fermanagh at 30th anniversary of the Northern Ireland Milk Cup.
Gamble went on thank all those who applied for the managerial positions.
"We would like to thank everyone who applied for the positions and attended interviews and are now looking forward to the serious business of selecting and preparing the teams for July."
