Enniskillen oarsman, Gerry Murphy crowned a superb 2013 by lifting his third Irish title in a third different discipline.

Gerry was at the University Arena in Limerick at the weekend where he won the Aged 50-59 Indoor Rowing Irish title by a clear eight seconds in the lightweight section.

Gerry’s time of 7 minutes and 3 seconds left him clear of Ian Pickering from England with Galway’s Brian McNicholl in third.

Remarkably this is Gerry’s third Irish title in a third different discipline this year.

In a year to remember, the pocket dynamo and versatile oarsman won the Single Sculls at the Irish Masters Rowing Championships in the summer and followed this up by winning the 1000m K1 Canoeing Irish title as well. Add in seven medals at the World Police and Fire Games which were held in Belfast for the first time this year, and it has certainly been a year to remember for Gerry.

“It has been a busy year that’s for sure,” he said.

“Thankfully, it has went well and now I can look forward to taking a bit of a rest before starting back in the New Year.”
