Enniskillen Collegiate secured the Girls’ Schools’ Cup for the fifth time in six years on Tuesday with a 10 tries to seven victory over Grosvenor at Queens Arena.

Grosvenor, who had lost to Collegiate in last year’s final, took an early lead but the Collegiate responded with five tries to go in with a 5-1 half time advantage.

Grosvenor though were to shade the second half but the Enniskillen school were able to keep their noses in front as they went on to clinch the title.

Grosvenor were to strike first in the game as they took the lead through Erin Caughey. However, the Collegiate were to respond to this setback in style as they quickly hit back through a try from Rebecca Pennell before taking the lead as Maeve Somerville went over.

The Collegiate continued to boss things and Emma Shaw made it 3-1 before Pennell burst through to score her second and Collegiate’s fourth.

And there was to be a further score for the Enniskillen side on the stroke of half time as Kathryn Dane registered her first try of the contest to leave it 5-1 at the interval.

Grosvenor did have more joy in the second half, scoring six tries to Collegiate’s five, but they were always chasing the game. Shaw and Dane both went over twice in the second half for the Fermanagh school to bring their tally to three tries each while Ellie Rix also got on the scoresheet.

Grosvenor’s scores in the second half came from Chloe McMaster, Caughey, Annie McKirgan, Emma Larmour and Nicole Muirhead (2).

However, in the end the Collegiate had done enough to secure the victory as their dominance of the Girls’ Schools’ Cup continues.
