An 18 medal haul, was a worthy return for the group of Lakelanders swimmers that travelled to Bangor for three days of intense and competitive swimming at the weekend.

The Enniskillen Lakelanders were represented by Sally Burrell, Deirbhile Coll, Barry and Rory Morris, Sophie and Michael O'Hare, Cathal Burns and Natasha Love and the octet performed superbly to make the long journey worthwhile and return home with an impressive haul of five golds, eight silver and five bronze medals. Add in several personal bests and Ulster qualfying times and it was clear to see this was a very fruitful weekend for the hard working young swimmers.

The weekend was not all plain sailing though and with the pressure on to achieve Ulster qualifying times, nerves got the better of some of the younger swimmers with two swimming two less and one swimming two more lengths than required in their determination to record times.

It was, however, a good learning curve for all the swimmers with the gala proving that with the dedicated coaching of Arunas and the commitment of the young people to their training schedule, they can compete at the highest level.
