Fermanagh swimmers enjoyed a good weekend at the Swim Ulster Qualifying Gala in Lisburn with a number of top performances and medal winning displays.

Enniskillen Lakelanders sent a strong team and certainly made their mark reflecting well on the hard work in training under new coach Chelsey Wilson.

It was another great meet for 13-year-old Cathal Burns who won a superb five gold medals and a silver medal.

Cathal was in unbeatable form as he raced to gold in the 200m IM, 200M backstroke, 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke. A silver in the tough 400m IM rounded off a good weekend for versatile Cathal who displays good strength in all strokes and he will be targeting more medals at the upcoming Ulster Age Group and Youth Distance championships back in Lisburn over the weekend of Saturday March 16 and 17.

Natasha Love also showed good strength in all disciplines as she secured four silver medals and a bronze.

Silver medals in diverse events such as the 50m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 200IM and 200m breaststroke aptly displayed the 13-year-old's adaptability and a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke ensured Natasha will tackle the Age Group Championships in good form.

In the 14 and under category, Deirbhille Coll again showed her penchant for the distance events with a great gold in the 1500m freestyle in a time of 18 minutes 23.85 seconds and she followed up with silver in the 400m IM.

Rory Morris won gold in the 100m IM while Qualifying Gala debutantes Rebecca Conway and Caitlin Love also impressed.

11-year-old Rebecca's 1 minute 30.9 secs in the 100m backstroke was a great PB but more importantly qualified her for the Age Group Youth championships in her first season at this level and she completed a good weekend with a gold in the 50m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m backstroke.

Caitlin Love won three bronze medals in the 50m butterfly, 100m breaststroke and 400m freestyle in the 10 and under category, marking her down as one to look out for in the future.

The Leonard sisters from Enniskillen, representing Sliabh Beagh, were also in medal winning form.

Alannah won gold in the 400m IM in the 16 and over category while 11-year-old Caoimhe won silver in the 50m butterfly. Nine-year-old Caragh added to the family haul as she took bronze in the 100m breaststroke completing a good weekend's swimming for all the Fermanagh contingent.
