Fermanagh had three representatives at the the Ulster Open Short Course Championship which took place at Lisburn Leisureplex at the weekend.

Alannah Leonard, Sliabh Beagh, Natasha Love and Sorcha Lavelle, both Enniskillen Lakelanders, all swam in a competition that saw all age groups compete against each other in a range of events over three days.

17-year-old Alannah Leonard (17), swimming for Sliabh Beagh ASC won an excellent silver medal in her favoured 100m Backstroke in a time of 1.05.48 just been beaten by Commonwealth Games qualifier Danielle Hill.

Natasha Love put in an excellent swim to make that 100m backstroke final as well given that she is only 15 finished eighth overall.

Alannah Leonard also made the final of the final of the 200m Individual Medley in a time of 2.26.93.

Natasha Love continued to impress in the backstroke events and also qualified for the 200m backstroke final in eighth place and improved to finish sixth overall in Ulster in this discipline. Natasha achieved a good PB in the 100m Individual Medley and rounded off a strong weekend with a top 20 finish in the fast and furious 50m backstroke.

13-year-old Sorcha Lavelle swam in two events and this high level of competition certainly pushed her on as she achieved two excellent PBs.

In the 100m breaststroke on Friday morning three seconds off her previous best to record a time of 1.28.28 to secure an Irish Age Group Division One qualifying time. Then in the 200m breaststroke she again she showed her strength in this event to achieve another three second PB All in all, a decent weekend for the Fermanagh swimmers against the top swimmers across all ages in Ulster.
