Enniskillen Lakelanders Amateur Swimming Club have appointed Justin Langford as ther new head coach for the 2015/16 season, replacing Chelsey Wilson who stood down from the position after two successful years in the role.

Langford joins the Lakelanders from Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club just north of London where he was Head Coach in 2014/2015. He will work alongside the current Lakelanders team of experienced and successful volunteer coaches and will have responsibility for their co-ordination along with the development and training of all squads within the Lakelanders.

The new coach started swimming competitively at a young age and has competed for some of the biggest swimming clubs in England, most notably Hatfield SC at National level.

There he was coached by Nick Juba who is currently the Head Coach of the Danish National team and someone Justin still uses as a source of advice.

As a swimmer Langford specialised in Butterfly and has won numerous medals right up to an England National standard where he had a particular success with the 200m Fly.

On a coaching level he had also had good success. Under his coaching leadership, the number of swimmers at his previous clubs progressing through to National competitions has increased dramatically though he is very aware that not all swimmers want to be competitive and will build that into the individual swimmers plans at the Lakelanders. He has a strong belief that coaches do not just need to develop a swimmer but also an all-round athlete therefore he incorporates land based training exercises, nutritional and hydration guidance as well as fun activities into his programs.

“We, as a club are excited about what next season will hold under Justin’s direction, are pleased to have someone of Justin’s experience and calibre directing the coaching team and training the swimmers at all levels. We wish him every success going forward,” said a club statement.

He replaces Chelsey Wilson who stood down as Head Coach after two successful years leading the Lakelanders squad at all levels of competition.

“The Lakelanders would like to thank Chelsey for her hard work and dedication culminating in huge success for both the Lakelanders team and individual swimmers at local, regional and Irish national levels in 2015. Everyone at the club wishes Chelsey well in her future endeavours,” continued the statement.

Swimming at the Lakelanders commences Monday September 7. Further information regarding Justin and the incoming season’s schedule is available via the Lakelanders Facebook page on - www.facebook.com/EnniskillenLakelanders.
