Enniskillen and Irvinestown Tennis Clubs both enjoyed great success at the Tyrone Championships last weekend with various honours coming in different grades for a number of competitors from the two Fermanagh clubs.

Enniskillen’s Matthew McGann was among the big winners of the weekend with the Enniskillen clubman securing the Mens A Open Singles title.

In the Mens A Open Doubles there was joy for Irvinestown’s John Maguire who joined up with regular partner Francis Venzon to secure victory while in the Ladies A Open Singles Irvinestown’s Donna McSorley was runner-up, making it through to the final before eventually being defeated.

The B events also brought about great success for local Fermanagh based players with Enniskillen’s Jimmy Renfrew claiming the Mens B Singles crown while Donal Burns and Clive Funston secured the Men B Doubles title.

And Burns clinched a second title of the weekend when he teamed up with Irvinestown’s Maggie Britton to take the Mixed B Doubles.

In the Ladies B Doubles Enniskillen’s Vanessa McBrien and Martina Boyd were to taste victory, defeating Irvinestown’s Maggie Britton and Rachel Logan in the final.

Irvinestown’s Brendan King also was among the winners at the Championships as he achieved the double of the Mens C Doubles with David Lowe and the Mixed C Doubles with Tanya Cathcart.
