Recent results in Junior tennis at Irvinestown Lawn Tennis Club would suggest that the future is very bright with three young players showing some truly remarkable talent at competitions at home and throughout the province.

For Kyran Maguire, Zara Flack and Conan Whitely it has been a summer laden with prizes and top displays on the tennis courts for the youngsters who compete in the U8, U9 and U10 sections.

Indeed, Kyran has proved himself to be the top U9 player in Ulster winning the Down championship in Bangor, Fermanagh Open U9 title at Irvinestown last week and then this week he won the U10 singles' title in the Tyrone Open championships in Omagh.

Kyran beat fellow club mate Conan Whitely in the final of the Fermanagh Open while Conan showed his ability by winning the U9 Championship in the Armagh championships in Portadown.

The talented Irvinestown duo then teamed up to take the U10 doubles' title in Omagh on Monday as they continue to collect titles galore.

Indeed, Kyran, son of Irvinestown club coach John, was runner-up in the U10 singles at the Fermanagh Open championship, and won the U10 doubles with Enniskillen's Sarah Cousins.

All in all, this year, Kyran has won six single titles, two team titles and two double titles.

Zara Flack has been equally prolific in the U8 sections winning the Armagh and Fermanagh championships before enjoying two wins in the Tyrone championships this week in the U8 and U10 sections.

Coach John is delighted with the progress of the younsgters.

"They have all performed so well, especially when competing in age sections above their actual age and yes it is fair to say that the future is bright. The standard is good out there and they have all won away from Fermanagh which is a very promising sign. Hopefully, they will all stick at it," reveals John.
