THE Ardhowen has great comedy performances coming up from two very popular theatre companies.

First up are Beezneez Theatre in ‘Thy Will Be Done’, for one night only, tonight (Thursday) and Belvoir Players present ‘Allo, Allo’ from Thursday, July 16 to Saturday, July 18.

THY WILL BE DONE The Ardhowen audience can be assured that they are in for a treat when the ever popular touring company Beezneez Theatre present Michael Carey’s hit, ‘Thy Will Be Done’ tonight at 8pm. ‘Thy Will Be Done’ is the tale of two warring brothers, Jack and Peteen, who live side by side but haven’t spoken in 40 years, with home help, Bridie, acting as a go-between. Peteen’s failed marriage resulted in his wife’s emigration to America just before their son was born, never to return. Following her death, the son returns to Ireland and is torn between his affection for his uncle and his respect for his father.

This moving play is laced with hilarious comedy and sharp dialogue as Jack and Bridie come to grips with an ever evolving family situation.

‘Thy Will be Done’ features John McDwyer and Padraic Neary as the warring brothers while Eileen Murphy plays the put upon but devious home help and Mick O’Rourke plays the confused American son/nephew of the brothers.

Equally hilarious and moving, ‘Thy Will be Done’ has become one of the most popular Irish plays of this generation and an international favourite and, given the usual Beezneez production standards, patrons are guaranteed an evening of both laughter and tears.

‘ALLO ALLO’ Ardhowen regulars, the Belvoir Players, return with ‘‘Allo, ‘Allo’, a comedy by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft. This staged version of the popular T.V. comedy series, set in a small-town café in German-occupied France during the Second World War, features the café owner René Artois and wife Edith as they struggle to keep hidden a priceless portrait stolen by the Nazis. The café is being used as a safe house for two brave but clueless British airmen, Herr Otto Flick of the Gestapo is on the hunt for the missing painting and René also has the French Resistance to cope with. Add to this René is trying to keep his affairs with his waitresses secret from his wife, Edith, who regularly ‘sings’ in the café, despite being an appallingly bad singer. Things come to a head when the Fuhrer plans to visit the town.

Patrons should note that, due to some adult content, this production is deemed suitable for 14 years and over. Belvoir Players present ‘‘Allo ‘Allo’ on Thursday, July 16, Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July, at 8pm.
