BLAKES of the Hollow will play host to a Summer Live Lounge on July 31 to raise money for the Aisling Centre in Enniskillen.

The one-off music event will celebrate some of the best musical talent Fermanagh has to offer while marking 25 years of the Asling Centre’s professinal counselling service found on Darling Street.

The night has been organised by Enniskillen Round Table.

It’s chairman for this year, Mark Edwards, explains: “Our aim is not only to raise money, but to also raise awareness of the fantastic job they do on a daily basis.

“They are celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year, and like many other organisations, face cutbacks in funding that will be detrimental to the service they provide.

“Their professional counselling service supports local people in our community to help deal with depression, suicidal thoughts and bereavement in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space.

“So, to kick start the whole thing off, we have to decided to organise a ‘one-off’ music event that will showcase some of the best musical talent in our county.” All the musicians have donated their time for free for what will be a brilliant night of talent that will cater for everyone’s musical needs, as Mark explains.

“We plan to have a variety of musicians playing on the streets during the day on July 31, scattered along from one side of the island to the the other ‘or as locals would say between the Bridges!’.

“This will take place around lunchtime and each musician will have an Aisling Centre collection box.

“This will be for those passers by who are interested and maybe can’t make the main event that evening, but would still like to make a donation.” The main event takes place later that evening in the Atrium Bar at Blakes of the Hollow.

All the bands are local and are vastly experienced in putting on great shows and regularly play in venues across the county.

There will be a cover charge on the door and all the proceeds will be going to The Aisling Centre.

Atticus Finch will kick off proceedings. The Hand Me Downs, Midnight Graffiti, Judas and The Engagements are all also on the line-up.

Future events to continue celebrating the Aisling Centre’s 25 year anniversary will include a Halloween cake sale at the Diamond, a charity run and a Table quiz.
