ANDREA Begley, winner of the BBC1 talent show, The Voice, has been announced as one of the judges for this month’s ‘Battle of the Buskers’ in Dungannon.

The 2013 competition winner from Pomeroy will join Raymond Stewart of Stewart’s Music Shop, and musicians, Alan Jardine and Robert Kirkland, to assess the musical ability, passion and interaction of the buskers who are taking to the streets of the town centre this Saturday, August 15.

A first for Dungannon, the ‘Battle of the Buskers’ event is being organised by Mid Ulster District Council in partnership with Dungannon Regeneration Partnership and Dungannon Traders Association.

Prize money of £1,000 is up for grabs for the overall winner with the runner-up receiving the great experience of producing a promotional video sponsored by Dungannon Enterprise Centre.

As well as the music provided by buskers, visitors to the town centre can also enjoy street performers, with face painting and balloon modelling for children.
