Indigo Fury will be back playing in Enniskillen next Friday.

Next Friday promises a great night in Blake's of the Hollow for any Fermanagh gig goer who loves live music.

Buoyed by their recent recording experience in the legendary Grouse Studios in Westmeath, where artists the likes of Michael Jackson have recorded, Enniskillen band Indigo Fury is set to deliver a gig to define the summer.

Not only that, Indigo Fury's Rory Lavelle and Marty Jones have recruited Enniskillen's Phil Duffy to bring his band Cashier No.9 to support on the night. Add local band I'm Not Maggie to the mix and it's all set for an amazing night.

The band is anticipating a great Enniskillen welcome. "The Enniskillen audience and Fermanagh in general are fantastic. Enniskillen has overtaken the Sligo audience," Indigo Fury's Rory Lavelle said.

While work on their forthcoming album continues, a new single "Sick of Emo" will be played live next Friday night. Rory is delighted with the results of their work in the Grouse Lodge Studios.

"The economic crisis has had its positive effects. We could not have afforded the place normally. They had a reduced rate and we took full advantage of it! When we went down it was unbelievable. It's in Westmeath. When you try to search for it on Google the first paragraph says 'In the middle of nowhere . . .'," he explained. The band recorded in Studio Two -- reputed to be Michael Jackson's favourite -- and are delighted with the quality of the work that has been produced. The studio has been previously used by a range of other music stars including Muse, Snow Patrol, Paulo Nutini, Manic Street Preachers, REM and Stereophonics. "It was really worthwhile going down there and coming away with good stuff. Hopefully we'll go back down in September and finish the album," said Rory. "The majority of the stuff we are doing live will be on the album," he added. It's due to be out in late Autumn.

Enniskilleners can feel good about the fact that their support has helped the band get to the stage of recording in these prestigious studios. "Playing gigs in Enniskillen and Sligo do boost petty cash. It afforded us the opportunity to go down and do this," Rory said. The tracks are being mixed and mastered in Chicago.

The official date for the release of the 'Emo' single is August 23.

Indigo Fury has four Fermanagh gigs this summer. As well as the Blake's gig, there's Irvinestown Festival and the inimitable Rock the Lough on August 29. Also they have made it into the All-Ireland Battle of the Bands which is to be staged in Kesh on August 20. "Me and Marty have been through this before. We are not going to rest on our laurels. We won the Bacardi/Hot Press Plugged Band of the Year award in 2002. There was a £30,000 prize. The prize this time is ten times less but we have worked ten times harder at this stage. We are older and wiser," he said.

There are also other gigs all over Ireland. "There are so many DIY festivals setting up as a result of the Glasgowbury event. Anybody with a couple of acres is setting one up. It is great for us. We were at one in Mayobridge which was really an extended beer garden and we had a ball," said Rory.

"With our sound, it's too rock for Indie and too Indie for rock. It's right down the middle. A lot of people are really into it and we are trying to get to them".

Next Friday's gig is also a potential highlight for the band, getting Cashier No.9 down to Enniskillen to act as support. "That is a real coup for us, getting those guys. But Phil [Duffy] knows his onions in terms of getting the band playing gigs and sees the opportunity for a new audience," Rory said.

Blake's is a great venue but for Indigo Fury, they must work for their rewards. There are 12 flights of stairs to be scaled with all their equipment. "If anybody is about to help, they can give us a shout," he joked.

"It's a good night for local music. There's myself and Marty, Phil and I'm Not Maggie from Enniskillen," said Rory.

The Blake's gig takes place on Friday, July 23.
