This week all the excitement at the Ardhowen is centred on the start of the pantomime with The Lakeland Players proudly presenting their 25th Annual pantomime which this year is 'Sleeping Beauty' and runs from Thursday 12 January to Saturday 21 January 2012, although there are very few tickets left so please check with the Box Office. The story of 'Sleeping Beauty' is set in a far away land long ago where a king and his fair queen lived. For many years they had longed for a child and finally their wish was granted. A daughter was born and they called her Aurora. Then a great holiday was proclaimed throughout the kingdom so that all might pay homage to the infant princess.

The 'Sleeping Beauty' story begins at that most joyful day. It is riot of comedy, colour, song and dance not to be missed. It follows on from last year's sell out performance of 'Snow White' and is one of the best loved fairy stories of all time containing all your favourite pantomime characters such as the beautiful princess and handsome prince alongside the wicked fairy and not forgetting the panto dame and bumbling sidekick.

After the panto season then there is the usual mix of great shows that patrons of the Ardhowen have come to expect starting with two nights of comedy with the 'Conal Gallen Laughin' All Over The World Tour 2012' on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 January at 8pm, although you do need to check with the Box Office to see if there are any tickets left. This is followed by 'An Evening With Brendan Shine' with compere Sean Wallace and special guests Ally Harron and Marian Curry on Saturday 28 January at 8pm. After his previous Ardhowen sell-out Brendan is back, so you can sit back and enjoy an evening with one of Ireland's top tv, radio and recording star. Performing live for four decades now with hits such as 'Do You Want Your Old Lobby Washed Down', 'Catch Me if You Can', 'My Name is Dan', 'The Village Where I Went to School', 'Shoe the Donkey', 'Grandad' and many more, an evening with the silky voice of Brendan is an evening to savour. Also included in the line up will be his daughter Emily along with little Johnny Dawson.

Some of the other shows to look forward to that are coming up over the next few months include the children's show 'Aladdin', 'The Winslow Boy', the music of 'The Carpenters', 'Shoot The Crow', 'Foster and Allen', 'The Grease and Dirty Dancing Show', 'Phil Coulter In Concert' and the ballet 'Sleeping Beauty'. Tickets for all the shows can be booked at the Box Office or online at www.ardhowentheatre.com as well as getting more information about all the shows that are available. Also check out the theatre on Facebook.
