ALL roads will lead to Newtownbutler this weekend for lovers of traditional music with the annual trad festival.

From tomorrow night (Friday) right through to Sunday the local Comhaltas branch will host a weekend of music, song and dance.

Featuring some of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians and tutors a weekend of fun is guaranteed.

The event begins with a concert in the Parish Hall at 7.30pm tomorrow with the theme of ‘Our Musical Families’ where a feast of traditional music, song and dance featuring some of the counties renowned musical families along with visiting talent will perform.

A full day of workshops and classes in a wide variety of instruments will take place on Saturday from 10.30am in St. Mary’s Primary School with tutors including Fiddle - Caoimhe Kearins, Bodhran - Sean O,Neill, Piano Accordion – Tadhg O’ Meachair, Button Accordion - Christopher Maguire, Whistle/Flute Cian Kearins, Beginners Whistle - Aisling McPhillips, Banjo - Eoghan Maguire, Sean Nos Dancing - Marion Bradley, Concertina - Emer Walsh, Harp – Aoife Ní Argáin and traditional singing tutored by Fermanagh’s own Rosie Stewart.

Saturday night will finish with a variety of session throughout the town.

On Sunday At 3pm a special mass will take place in St. Marys Church to remember former Comhaltas members.

This will be followed by a photographic exhibition in the community centre entitled ‘Comhaltas through the Years’ and in the same venue at 4.30pm current All Ireland button champion Mickey Curran with a selection of friends will perform in concert followed by a session mór.
