ARDHOWEN has some cracking entertainment this Easter. Borderline Players present ‘Old Mother Hubbard’ with a twist tonight (Thursday) and Friday and William Caulfield returns with some family friendly comedy on Saturday.

OLD MOTHER HUBBARD – THE PANTOMIME The Wild Wild West comes to the Ardhowen Theatre as, Pettigo based drama group, Borderline Players present their annual pantomime, ‘Old Mother Hubbard’; but this nursery rhyme has more than a few twists along the way.

Written by Paul Reakes, Old Mother Hubbard follows the tale of the Hubbard family, Polly (Samantha McElgunn), Hughie (Barry Gallagher) and of course Mother (Joe Walsh) as they embark on a surprising, life-changing adventure. Down on their luck, the family has been cast aside, penniless, without food and evicted from their home. A chance encounter with a good fairy allows the family one wish and the results see them magically transported to the wild-west.

However life on the prairie isn’t going to be plain sailing for the Hubbard family, as a trio of nasty villains, lead by Black Matt Vinyl (Aaron Britton) and his henchmen, Hank (Geraldine Britton) and Jake (Nicole Beaumont), attempt to thwart their efforts at every turn. Reprising her role from Cinderella, Teresa McLoughlin is the good fairy who sends our heroes on their big adventure. Killian McGloin joins the cast as Tex Laramie, a cowboy who finds love with Polly Hubbard, while Aiden Gilroy is the hilarious Tumbleweed, who has a hankering for Mother Hubbard.

Audiences can look forward to an array of dazzling, high-kicking, energetic dance routines, choreographed by Chris Cross, to a sound track featuring everything from Cotton Eye Joe to Bruno Mars and Beyonce. Old Mother Hubbard will take to the stage at The Ardhowen tonight at 8pm and on Friday at 3pm and 8pm.
