CLEENISH Community Association are hosting ‘The Mock Wedding’ on Saturday, July 25 at 7.30pm in Cleenish Millennium Hall, Arney.

A ‘Mock Wedding’ is a play that follows the course of a traditional wedding with some humorous twists and turns along the way.

The audience become the wedding guests who not only watch the bride and groom wed but also attend the reception to hear the speeches, watch the cutting of the cake and first dance of the newly weds!

Following a whirlwind romance, the event in Arney will see local bachelor ‘Willie’ (Alexis Maguire) wed local lady ‘Maggie’ (Mary Corrigan) at what locals are calling ‘the Wedding of the year’.

The story is one of love, lust, affairs, addiction and sheep farming! After the ceremony, the wedding guests will be treated to a light supper reception with Music afterwards by Tommy Owens.

The fundraising initiative is to raise funds for the Cleenish Community Association.

Caroline Meehan, member of Cleenish Community Association, said: “Charity Mock Weddings have became increasingly popular in recent years throughout the country. The event will bring the community together not only for a good night out but also for a good cause. The wedding guests will be in for some big surprises!” The cast includes Derek Thornton and Jackie Owens as father and mother of the bride, Brian McManus and June Clements as father and mother of the groom, Daniel Owens as the bishop, Padraig Owens as the bestman and Emma Crooks as the bridesmaid.

Tickets for the event cost £10 and may be purchased from Committee members of Cleenish Community Association by contacting Caroline on 07779257578.
