A short film co-written, directed and produced by an Enniskillen man will be gracing the silver screens at the 64th Cannes Film Festival next week.

Brian J. Falconer from Enniskillen and Jonathan Beer originally from Derby and are celebrating after their Japanese film YUKI was selected for the Short Film Corner at the famous event.

Written and directed by Jonathan, a graduate of the prestigious Winchester School of Art, YUKI follows a teenage girl as the world around her changes. With no medical diagnosis for her mothers mysterious illness, Yuki (played by Haruka Abe) knows its time to face her own demons if she has any chance of saving her mother.

YUKI producer Brian said: "As soon as Jon told me that he wanted to make a Japanese film based in Belfast I knew it was going to be a lot of work. Now nearly two years later, being part of a high-profile event like the Short Film Corner is a real honour and has made every hour that we spent on the film very worth while."

The Short Film Corner at Cannes presents films from all over the world. Available on demand at Cannes, YUKI will be watched by directors, producers, sales agents, buyers and festival programmers - a level of exposure which is invaluable to any up-and-coming film makers.

YUKI will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival until the Festival runs from May 11 to 22. The film recently premiered at the Belfast Film Festival in April 2011 where it received a rapturous response.
