Ardhowen Theatre
It's entertainment all the way at Ardhowen Theatre with a great mix of comedy and music over the next couple of weeks. First up is the Gateway Theatre from Portadown with a comedy called 'Ladies Day' which runs for two performances this Friday 18th and Saturday 19th June at 8pm. It's a highly entertaining comedy set against the background of four hard-working factory workers, Pearl, Jan, Shelly and Linda who work in the Tayto factory in Tandragee. For them, life, love and work are one hard slog, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel, when Pearl, who has decided to leave her job, finds four tickets to Royal Ascot's Ladies Day and invites her three mates to celebrate with an all girls outing there. As you can imagine, when they arrive at Ascot, the champagne flows, secrets spill out and their horses keep winning. With luck like this, can they win the jackpot? Will they ever be able to return to crisp packing in Tandragee? Find out what happens in this hilarious romp. The Gateway Theatre are regular performers at Portrush Summer Theatre and are delighted to bring this comedy to Ardhowen after a break of a few years.
Country Music Concert
JW Promotions bring their 'Kings and Queens Of Country' show to the Theatre for one night only on Thursday 24th June. It's an evening that pays tribute to some of Nashville's greatest Country Music stars including Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Charlie Pride, The Bellamy Brothers etc. The performance starts at 8pm.
Tribute To Bruce Springsteen
As Ardhowen Theatre is obviously too small to ever be able to host 'The Boss' himself, a tribute band is the next best thing, and on Friday 25th June Laneway Studios bring their 'Tribute to Bruce Springsteen' show to the stage. The band itself have a strong likeness to the E Street Band, complete with backing singers in a rockin' two hour show that re-creates the sounds of the original band with the lead singer an amazing lookalike to 'The Boss' himself. The show starts at 8pm.
Superb Blues Rock Chick In Concert
The last time that the amazingly talented blues singer Grainne Duffy played in Ardhowen's Gallery Bar, she took the place by storm and since that date the Theatre has been asked many times to bring her back. Now, in a replacement show to the advertised main theatre show 'Old Heads, Young Shoulders', Grainne and her amazing band play Ardhowen's Gallery Bar on Saturday 26th June at 9pm. Grainne is indeed the new voice of the blues/rock vein with an amazing soulful edge. She is like a combination of BB King and Bonnie Raitt. Her 'Out Of The Dark' debut album in 2007 received great acclaim from the critics including 'Classic Rock' magazine and from Van Morrison with whom she shared a stage at the 2008 Blues On The Bay' Festival. As well as being asked to record in the legendary George Martin's renowned Air Studios in London, she has appeared three times at the Glastonbury Festival including most recently on the acoustic stage with artists such as Joan Baez, Suzanne Vega, Seasick Steve, and The Blockheads. It will be a great night that should not be missed.
