JOHN Mc GURN

Mc GURN John Francis The family of the late John Francis McGurn of Druminiskill, Teemore, would like to offer our thanks to the many people who showed great kindness and support during his latter years and in the time since he left us on the 18th August 2018. John Francis lived a long, and mostly healthy, life. It was only in his 90's that he needed more care, initially in his own home, and finally in a nursing home. We are indebted to all who cared for him and called to see him regularly in his home, and to Teemore Day Centre staff for their community care and attention. It was this social interaction that allowed him to be independent and stay at home as long as he did. When the time came, Gnangara Residential Home, Enniskillen, provided a safe and homely environment for John Francis, and the staff were wonderful. He spent his last year and a half in the Tilery Nursing Home, Florencecourt, and they deserve a special mention for the professionalism and high standard of care. The management and staff are dedicated and diligent, and give families like us comfort that their loved ones are in good hands. Along the way, South West Acute Hospital have provided professional medical care every time, and for that we are sincerely thankful. We greatly appreciate all those who came to sympathise during the wake, at his removal and at his funeral or who sent messages of sympathy. Thanks to everyone who helped at the wake, particularly with the catering and with the general preparations. To the clergy, who attended John Francis at any time of his life, but in particular, Fr Gerard Alwill, Fr Fintan McKiernan, and Fr Ultan McGoohan who officiated at the Funeral Services. Thanks to Fr Gerard for a touching and respectful eulogy at the Funeral Mass. To Pat Blake, Funeral Director, for supporting the family with arrangements and practical issues. And many thanks to all involved providing the catering and organisation in the hall afterwards. Finally, a thank you to anyone not mentioned here who befriended John Francis along the way. John Francis was a quiet, caring, hardworking man and not one for fuss or ceremony. But he would have enjoyed the attention and respect shown by the local community and beyond, in his last days. Sincere thanks to everyone. "May he rest in peace". John Francis' Month's Mind Mass will be held in St Mary's Church, Teemore at 9:45am, on Sunday 23rd September.
