Dessie Gorrell

GORRELL Dessie (Des) Maguiresbridge and Sussex The family of the late Dessie R.I.P. (wife Eithne predeceased), daughters Jane (Colin), Eileen (Martin), sons John (Sam) and Mick (Áine), grandchildren, brother Michael (Josie) and sisters Kathleen (Hugh R.I.P.), Mae (Séan R.I.P.), Patricia (Eamonn) and Anna (Alphie), wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who sympathised with us in our recent beravement. To Dessie's supportive friends and past colleagues, especially those who travelled from England and many parts of Ireland to be with us at his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Maguiresbridge, we are truly grateful. The kind words and memories shared by so many brought comfort to all of us. A special thank you to Canon Jimmy McPhillips and Father Brendan Shannon for the memorable concelebration of Requiem Mass and thanks also to Canon Joseph Mullin, along with Father Brian D'Arcy for the prayerful reception of Dessie's remains on the previous evening. We are deeply grateful to everyone who sent or brought Mass and sympathy cards and to all who gave donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Association in lieu of flowers. We were all very impressed by Karen McElroy and Ian Fee with their beautiful singing and music at the Mass and Removal Service. A sincere thanks to the Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers and Church Sexton. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Swift and McCaffrey, Funeral Directors, for the dignified and caring way they carried out all the arrangements. Oli and Fakie with their expertise, made us feel at ease and confident, even amidst our grief at that sad time. We also commend the Manager and Staff of the Westville Hotel, Enniskillen where we had our funeral lunch and accomodation over the weekend. Finally we are forever grateful to everyone who cared for Des in any way in his final year of failing health, with particular thanks to the Staff of Bramble Cottage Residential Nursing Home. As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as an expression of our deep appreciation and gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all. The Month's Memory Mass for Dessie will be celebrated on Sunday, 19th May, 2019 in St. Mary's Church, Maguiresbridge at 10.00 a.m.
