CAHILL Monsignor Se First Anniversary (25th April, 1934 - 20th July, 2020) SeCahill was born on 25th April, 1934, the son of the late John and Margaret Cahill (nee O'Halloran). The family home was at Latlurcan in Monaghan town. Educated at Monaghan CBS and later at St. Macartan's College, he studied for the priesthood at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth after which he was ordained by Bishop Eugene O'Callaghan on 24th July, 1960. From 1960 Fr. Sean was a member of the teaching staff of St. Macartan's College, Monaghan, being President of the College from 1974 until 1981. He was appointed Parish Priest of St. Michael's Parish, Enniskillen in August 1981 where he served until his retirement in 2007. He is fondly remembered for his kindly manner, pastoral zeal and prayerful shepherding of the people of God. He was responsible for undertaking the renovation of St. Michael's Church, as well as the development of the Parish Centre (formerly First Trust Bank) and the Parish Shop. Appointed Chaplain to His Holiness with the title of Monsignor in 1981, he was also a Vicar General of the Diocese of Clogher from then until 2010. Monsignor Sewas involved in the major transformative uplift of the estate of our Catholic Schools in Northern Ireland through his membership of what became CCMS and his role in the governance of Catholic Schools in Enniskillen. Following retirement, he ministered to the people of Maguiresbridge in the parish of Aghalurcher, Co. Fermanagh and was Director of Vocations for the diocese, for which he had much success. In 2018, Monsignor Semoved to the Parochial House in Enniskillen. Monsignor Seis predeceased by his parents John and Margaret (nee O'Halloran) and step-mother Kathleen (nee McDermott), Marian House, Latlurcan, Monaghan and his brothers Fr. Martin and Matthew. He is survived by his brothers Hugh (Caitlin), Cranfield, Kilkeel, Co. Down and Owen (Pauline), Warrenpoint, Co. Down, his niece: M, nephews: CiarDiarmuid and Manus and the wider family circle, by Bishop Lawrence Duffy, Bishop of Clogher and his predecessors, Bishop Liam MacDaid and Bishop Joseph Duffy, the Priests, Deacon, religious and laity of the Diocese of Clogher, especially by the people and clergy of St. Michael's Parish, Enniskillen and Lisbellaw. Sincere thanks to the Health Care Professionals and Staff of the Bridgewater Suite, City Hospital, Belfast, South West Acute Hospital, the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service and the local Community Care Team. Thanks to the staff of The Graan Abbey Nursing Home, Drumclay Transitional Care Facility, the Tilery Nursing Home and to the many Parishioners, Parish Staff, Clergy and friends who helped care for Monsignor Seduring the period of his illness. Your kindness was so much appreciated. We are thankful to the local Undertaker, Enda Love, for helping with funeral preparations, to the Parish Team for organising the liturgies, Bishop Lawrence Duffy for offering the Requiem Mass, Monsignor Peter, P.P. St. Michael's Parish for preaching the homily, to the Musicians, Soloists, Sacristans and Ushers, to the Sisters of Mercy, Enniskillen for their prayerful vigil, to all Church Organisations, local Schools, Civic Representatives, the GAA and other sporting bodies for organising a guard of honour along the route to Monsignor's final resting place in the Convent Cemetery, Enniskillen. Monsignor SeFirst Anniversary Mass will take place on Saturday 24th July at 6pm, St Michael's Church, Enniskillen.
