This October sees an exciting new event for all you live music lovers. Country roots celebrates the music and sounds that have grown from stories of rural life and have been shaped by the landscape of their origin.

A hybrid of many influences and traditions, string instruments, harmonies and melodies that guarantee you’ll be swinging your partner and stamping your feet.

Tonight, Thursday, October 15 sees another Big Country Night at the Share Arena just outside Lisnaskea. Doors are open at 9pm ready for night of music, dancing and big names in local country music. Singers include Sean Corrigan, Aidan Clerkin, Paul Kelly, Malcom Coulter, Brain Kerrigan, Gerry Mac, Seany Mac, Vincy Walmsley and Karl Kirkpatrick.

Again at Share Arena on Friday, October 16 at 9pm there will be more great live music, this time of the Bluegrass variety. Fresh from their performances at The Omagh Bluegrass Festival, Harpers Hollow and Northern Exposure, are two great live bands not to be missed.

Northern Exposure create a sound that embraces both modern and traditional forms of bluegrass music.The band features Patsy Toman on lead vocals and guitar, Peter Toman on double bass and vocals, Jonny Toman on five string banjo and guitar and Brendan Hendry on fiddle. Also featured in they’re show are new pieces from Jonny and Brendan’s upcoming appalachian and traditional Irish banjo fiddle album, due for release early 2016.

Harpers Hollow Bluegrass Band, from Moira, is dedicated to honouring the heritage of Bill Monroe with traditional hard driving, 3 part harmony and a touch of Appalachian old timey “high lonesome”. Harpers Hollow Bluegrass Band comprises of local boy, Colin Allen on banjo who is originally from Lisnaskea, Derek Norwood on guitar, William Duddy on mandolin and Derek Lockhart on bass. The Festival of live music will finish up with Trad on the Lough on Sunday, October 18 from 2pm to 4pm, where there will be a live trio playing traditional music aboard the Innishcruiser.
