THE Christmas spirit is in full swing at The Ardhowen with The High Kings playing to a sell-out audience on Tuesday, December 29, and Country star Robert Mizzell will delight his many fans once again the next day.

THE HIGH KINGS

The High Kings are true heirs of Ireland’s folk heritage, together playing thirteen instruments during their performance. Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Martin Furey and Darren Holden showcase their incredible versatility both vocally and instrumentally, bringing a great acoustic flavour to original songs as well as some old favourites. This hugely popular show on Tuesday, December 29, at 8pm has now sold out.

ROBERT MIZZELL IN CONCERT

Louisiana born, Robert Mizzell has made Ireland his home for over 20 years and is now one of the top Country artist’s in Ireland and the UK. Robert’s hit ‘Say You Love Me’ made him a household name in Ireland, followed by ‘Mama Courtney’, ‘Louisiana Saturday Night’, ‘Cajun Dance’, ‘Papa Loved Mama’ and ‘Wham Bam’. Robert has recorded many songs in his career, but two highlights were in 2010 when he released the hit singles ‘Mama Courtney’, an original written by Henry McMahon, and also ‘Murder On Music Row’, a cover duet with top American Country Artist, Collin Raye. Both singles reached the number one position on the European Country Music Chart during 2010 and remained in the chart for 20 weeks.

DICK WHITTINGTON

Oh no it isn’t! Oh yes it is! It’s panto time again with Lakeland Players' presentation of ‘Dick Whittington’ running from Thursday, January 7, to Saturday, January 16, at 8pm and weekend matinees at 3pm. This classic pantomime by Norman Robbins, one of Amateur Theatre's most popular authors, will be full of all the usual mad antics and laughs.

Once upon a time, young Dick travels to London, accompanied by his cat, hoping to make his fortune. Finding out the streets are not paved with gold, he decides to leave but the London church bells seem to tell him to stay. As you can image, an assortment of comic characters and dastardly villains cross his path in a series of great adventures with the usual happy ever after ending.
