GLORIA and Joe Moore will perform at the Corner Bar, Ederney tomorrow night (Friday).

Gloria is an Irish singer who rose to fame in Ireland during the 1970s with ‘One Day at a Time’.

She later toured under her married name of Gloria Sherry.

It was as a solo singer however that she made her name in the 1970s, touring around Ireland singing alongside Johnny McEvoy before breaking out on her own.

She began recording Gospel and Country songs in Nashville and found her greatest success in the late 1970s with her version of the song ‘One Day at a Time’ which reached number one in the Irish charts.

It remained on the charts for 90 weeks - the longest run for any single in Irish chart history (a record it still holds today).

The single gained a UK release in December 1978.

Gloria announced her retirement in May 2001, when she turned 50.

But she will be making a return to music, performing at The Corner Bar, Ederney alongside the talented Joe Moore and backing band Jokers Wild.

Joe Moore from Dungiven continues to attract audiences with a preference for an earlier style of country music.

His popularity has spread beyond Ireland and his following extends through Europe and Scandinavia. Moore’s repertoire includes many covers of songs made popular by American country artists as well as a few original songs.
