BBC Radio Ulster comes live from Fermanagh over the first weekend in October.

As part of its 40th birthday celebrations, some of the station’s best known presenters will be out and about across the county from Friday, October 2, to Sunday, October 4.

Joining forces for one day, and for the first time on air, will be Hugo Duncan and Father Brian D’Arcy who will be co-presenting a tea dance from Derrygonnelly Community Centre on Friday from 1pm until 3pm.

Already lined up to perform at the ‘Duncan and D’Arcy’ tea dance are Lisa McHugh, Mick Flavin, Kinawley singer Sean Corrigan and Anthony McBrien. The event is free and everyone is invited to go along to see Hugo, Brian and the team.

Hugo Duncan said: “We are so looking forward to heading to Derrygonnelly and have a great line-up of musicians and singers, so be sure to come along and see us for some tea and buns and maybe even a wee dance!” Father D’Arcy added: “It will be great to welcome Hugo and the team down to Fermanagh and to present on radio with him and I hope everyone comes along to Derrygonnelly for what will be a wonderful afternoon of craic and entertainment.” Then later that evening, Blas Ceoil, presented by Lynette Fay, will be live from The Fiddlestone in Belleek from 7.03pm. On the bill to perform will be the cream of local musicians including CCÉ Béal Leice.

Morning Service on Sunday comes from Rossorry Parish Church, Enniskillen at 10.15am and will be conducted by Rev Dr Ian Ellis.

Rounding off the weekend in Fermanagh, John Toal presents a special live edition of Classical Connections from The Old Gaol in South West College in Enniskillen from 2-4pm.

Joining him is Belfast-based choral group Melisma, violinist Joanne Quigley performing alongside Melisma’s choral director, Tanya Houghton on harp, who also features as soloist.

And he welcomes back pianist Sean Rooney to the programme, as well as the Lisaire String Quartet and soprano Laura Sheerin.
