The public has been advised not to disclose personal information to those they believe are making suspicious calls.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council said it has been made aware of suspicious calls being made to residents by individuals claiming to be from the Council, requesting personal information.

A spokesman stated:"In the event that residents receive a similar call, the Council advises not to disclose any personal information if there is any doubt as to whether the call is genuine and to report any such calls to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

"A company called NEMS Market Research is undertaking a legitimate Residents Survey on behalf of the Council for which the information gathered will be used to inform the retail strategy for the Fermanagh and Omagh Local Development Plan.

"Researchers from NEMS will clearly identify who they are and the purpose of the call and will not ask for any personal details."
