A list of people who have served their communities in Fermanagh are among the recipients of the New Year Honours for 2017 just announced.

They are headed by retired teacher of the former Portora Royal School, Robert Northridge, who receives the MBE for services to rowing and community relations in Northern Ireland.

There are numerous awards of BEMs to people in Fermanagh including Eva Baxter, Ballinamallard for services to young people, performing arts and the community in south-west Ulster; Valerie Brown for services to the community in south Fermanagh; Wesley Elliott, funeral director, of S.R.Elliott and Sons, Enniskillen, for services to the community; Jim Gamble and Avril Graham, of the Friends of the Cancer Centre for services to charitable fundraising; Selwyn Johnston, a railway historian, for services to the community in Enniskillen; Ethel Oldcroft, Enniskillen for services to older people in Fermanagh; Ann Orr, manager of Fermanagh County Show, for services to agriculture and the rural community in Fermanagh and William R.A. Wilson, Trillick, for services to the community in Fermanagh and Tyrone.
