A Main Street resident in Lisbellaw is calling for Transport NI to speed up their remedial works to improve a safety feature in the area.
Dana Taylor who lives at the junction of Main Street and Farnamullan Road in the village, says a low wall outside her property protects pedestrians walking along the footpath from traffic negotiating the junction.
However she says sometimes when vehicles park on the double yellow lines on the Main Street, it forces heavy goods vehicles approaching the Main Street from the Farnamullan Road to take a sharp turn exiting sometimes resulting in hitting the wall.
She has evidence of six such occasions in the past year.
“I see the Council is spending £10,000 in their Chamber but they won’t do anything about this,” she said. Mrs.Taylor, the mother of a four-year-old and two-year-old, said; “We have suggested we would erect a bollard at the end of the wall to stop vehicles hitting it but the Roads Service says it is theirs. When I asked them when they could do this they replied they didn’t know and that this was not a priority.
“This wall protects our house as well. There is masonry damaged on the hall already and three blocks are loose,” she said.
Mrs. Taylor is now waiting on a response from Transport NI.
