A most impressive Festival of Flowers was held over the weekend, August 4 to 6, in St. Patrick’s Church Derrygonnelly, as part of the ongoing Botha Parish Renovation Fundraising campaign.
The Festival was officially opened on the Friday evening with a beautiful prayer service led by Parish Priest Fr. Jimmy Mc Phillips, assisted by Canon David Skuce, Rector of Innishmacsaint Parish, and the Rev. Sampson Ajuka, Rector Monea Parish. Attracting large attendances, the event continued until the Sunday evening.
“There were 28 floral displays on show, all put together by local ladies, and indeed gentlemen, and by members of local flower clubs,” acknowledged a representative, who added: “Fr. Jimmy and the Flower Festival Committee would like to thank all those many people who made this event such an amazing success, and to all the patrons who came from far and near and from all the Christian Churches within the county.”
