A Sinn Féin Councillor is recovering at home after suffering a heart attack last week.
Thomas O’Reilly was hospitalised in the middle of last week following a heart attack and was released from the South West Acute Hospital on Saturday.
The 53-year-old father of three, from Galloon Gardens, Newtownbutler joined Sinn Féin in the mid-nineties and became a member of Fermanagh District Council in 2001. He was first elected as Chairman of Fermanagh District Council in 2008; a role he again fulfilled in 2011 and 2012. In 2016 the Erne East Councillor chaired Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
He is a keen exponent of the great outdoors and regularly speaks in the Council chamber about the re-development of the Ulster Canal and the need for the installation and refurbishment of Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAS) in Fermanagh’s towns and villages.
A number of party colleagues have been in touch with Councillor O’Reilly via text message to wish him a speedy recovery.
