A YOUNG Irish dancer from Belcoo has enjoyed further success competing at this year’s World Championships.
Talented teen, Colum Higgins, a second year pupil at St. Michael’s College in Enniskillen, came second in his category at the prestigious dancing competition, held in Glasgow.
This is one better than his third-placed finish at last year’s event in Dublin.
The 13 year old, a son of Martin and Elma Higgins, travelled to the Royal Concert Hall in the Scottish city with his parents and sisters, Eimear and Crona.
He competed against over 40 boys in his category.
Colum is a pupil of the McConomy Bradley Doherty Academy in Derry and attends this dancing school twice or three times a week.
The schoolboy has been dancing since he was four, and has made steady progress since first competing at the World Championships four years ago.
Colum’s family acknowledge that his dancing teachers have to be commended for the amount of hard work and dedication they have given him over the years.
The teenager also has a keen interest in Gaelic football and, in his spare time, plays for Belcoo O’Rahilly’s.
He wants to pursue his interest in Irish dancing with hopefully more success to come in the future.
Elma and Martin said that they really want to thank everyone for their good wishes and support.
