The sixth annual FEARmanagh Endurance Adventure Race (FEAR) took place on Saturday 29 September 2018 in the scenic surroundings around Derrygonnelly and West Fermanagh.

This year’s event attracted a record entry of 350 competitors coming from as far away as Norway, Sweden and France as well as the UK and Ireland. It featured trail running, cycling and kayaking, over a long course of 74 Km, or a short course of 35 Km. Starting and finishing at Derrygonnelly Community Centre, the challenging race route incorporated areas such as the hills of Knockmore, Big Dog Forest, the iconic Lough Navar viewpoint and cliff path, Magho shore and Garrison village.

The event also featured the Ciaran Murphy Memorial Trophy, which was presented by Ciaran’s family in recognition of his courageous struggle with Cystic Fybrosis, to raise awareness of the disease and to encourage organ donation.

FEAR was organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in partnership with the district’s emergency services and the local Derrygonnelly community with support from Waterways Ireland. Results from the event are available to view at www.sportident.co.uk/results/2018/FEAR/
