A flotilla of little red boats will carry little and not so little animals from the ‘Wildes’ of Fermanagh along the rivers of Lough Erne this Saturday afternoon (October 6) to mark the beginning of FLive’s children’s celebration. Provided by Erne Boat Hire, the boats will feature the young winners of the ‘Selfish Giant’ illustration competition and will travel under the Erne Bridge and the East Bridge where they can be viewed around 2pm. There will also be stories told and live music played on the bridges and Ceithleann’s Island. Follow the boats along the riverside walk to the Buttermarket where there will be a hive of activity including mural painting for tiny people and for the fashion conscious hair wraps, braids, nail and face painting. Also on offer is mask making for interactive drama and balloon modelling of swords or crowns. For the adventurous there will be games of skill – fishing for trout and ‘Little Cuilcagh’ to climb. Magician Parky will bring magic and wonder along with his cheeky rabbit Bongo. Musicians from the local schools will provide live music throughout the day. The Wild Theatre Co. - a collaboration between Enniskillen Royal Grammar School and Erne Integrated College Performing Arts students, will perform their version of ‘The Selfish Giant’ by Oscar Wilde at 3.15pm and 4.15pm.

Adorning the windows of one of the Buttermarket units is the exceptional artistic work of local emerging artists from St. Joseph’s, St. Fanchea’s, Mount Lourdes, Devenish College and Enniskillen Royal Grammar School. The talented pupils have created portraits with a difference, which together form a striking gallery of faces in the Buttermarket courtyard. Young photographer Roksana Dawidowska hosts her first solo photography exhibition entitled ‘Faces, Different but the Same’ in Fermanagh House as part of the FLive visual arts programme. The dramatic portraiture photographs are Roksana’s response to the theme of ‘What Integration means to me’ and features numerous local faces. The day of festivities will be a celebration of art and the young emerging artists of Fermanagh. So come along and join in the fun!
