Wesley College Dublin welcomed Mrs. Joan Wilson and her daughter Julie-Ann to dedicate the College’s Library in honour of her late husband, Mr. Gordon Wilson, who was a past pupil of the College. Mr. Wilson was known for his role as a peace campaigner in Northern Ireland following the death of his daughter Marie in the Enniskillen bombing. The day following the tragedy, Mr. Wilson famously gave an interview in which he stated that "I bear no ill will. I bear no grudge" against the people who perpetrated the bombing.

In a number of assemblies with his pupils, Principal of Wesley College, Mr. Christopher Woods, highlighted the extraordinary forgiveness and courage shown by Mr. Wilson and his family when confronted with painful adversity.

The College was said to be “delighted” to be able to honour Mr. Wilson’s memory at the dedication on Monday October 1. During the dedication Mrs. Wilson unveiled the plaque engraved with ‘Gordon Wilson Library’ along with a framed photograph of Mr. Wilson on the stairway of the library. She also presented Mr. Woods with two books about her husband and daughter which will feature in the library for generations of students to read. Mrs. Wilson later addressed the pupils in an assembly before taking her leave after a very moving day for all.
