Pupils from two schools in Lisnaskea were invited to the inauguration of President Michael D Higgins in Dublin Castle.

Five pupils from both St. Ronan's Primary School and the Moat Primary School made the journey, a "memory that will not be forgotten," says Moat principal Felicity Humphreys.

The journey into the castle was memorable itself as the bus from Lisnaskea was behind the cavalry squadron of motorcycles escorting President Higgins and his wife Sabina to the night’s proceedings.

"The nighttime setting at the castle provided a dramatic backdrop for the motorcade and proved a spectacular sight for the Lisnaskea pupils.

"Following the inauguration the president and his wife Sabina were warmly greeted by the Lisnaskea pupils. Each pupil either shook hands with the President or Sabina and in fact a number of pupils were privileged to greet both," explained Mrs. Humphreys.
