Tributes have been paid for well-known and much loved Teddy Henderson whose funeral took place last week, with his family describing him as the "perfect" father, grandfather and great-grandfather after he passed away on Tuesday, December 18.

Teddy worked as a barber for over 50 years, opening his business on Darling Street in Enniskillen in 1959.

Paula Coulter, a daughter of Teddy said her father "loved his family, loved his job and loved talking to people".

"He just lived for his family and loved his work," said Paula.

"He loved the fact that he had customers from both sides of the community. He loved loved talking to people and was very sociable "

As well as his work, Teddy played a massive part in his local community, being one of five brothers who took to the Gaelic field for Enniskillen Gaels while he was also the secretary of St. Michael's Community Centre and represented them in badminton.

"He had a great sense of community. He was one of those people who liked to be involved and do what he could.

"He loved Gaelic football. He was very proud of Paul his grandson who played county minor for Fermanagh. It was one of his proudest days when they played Down he was bursting with pride."

An accomplished golfer, Teddy was a well respected member of Blacklion Golf Club where he served as Club Captain and President.

And it was the friendships he made at the club that helped him when his wife, Lily passed away.

"Mummy died 23 years ago. He was 60 and he was very lonely after that and the golf club in Blacklion became a great support for him and like an extended family for him."

Paula paid tribute to the staff at the Millcroft Nursing Home and his doctor Joe McConville and the care and love they showed her father while he was there.

"Although daddy wouldn’t have had best quality of life after his stroke he was loved dearly by the nurses and carers in the Millcroft. It was lovely for him to know everyday he was loved and they were really like extended family because we were in everyday and we got to know them all very well. They really deserve the biggest amount of credit and his doctor Joe McConville. He was with him when he died and was a good friend of daddy's."

His GAA club Enniskillen Gaels said: "The club is sad to learn of the death of Teddy Henderson. Teddy was the last of five brothers who played for the Gaels and was from a stalwart GAA family. RIP."

Teddy was a beloved husband of the late Lily and devoted father of Paula (Gary), Liam (Norah) & Elaine (Leslie). Brother of the late Tony, Eamon, Vincent, Patrick, Molly & Ena.
