IT is not yet known when the funeral of a pensioner killed in a house fire on Christmas Eve will take place.

Ben Donnelly (80) died following the fire in the living room of his home in Braeside Park in Enniskillen at around 11am on Monday.

Attending the incident firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire. But sadly Mr. Donnelly died at the scene.

Sinn Féin Councillor Debbie Coyle told this newspaper: “It is just tragic news to hear at any time of the year but at Christmas makes it even more heartbreaking.”

DUP Councillor Keith Elliott also extended his sympathies.

“This is an absolute tragedy that is being felt right across the local community. I extend my sympathies to his family, friends and the local community at this difficult time.”

Mr. Donnelly is survived by his daughters, Sharon and Lynn, brother Jim, grandchildren, nieces and wide family circle.
