In celebration of 50 years at their Reilly's Cross site, Jones Memorial Primary School hosted a community carol service to mark the milestone.

The special carol service, which took place at Rossorry Church on Thursday December 20, was attended by past and present pupils and staff of the school as well as family, friends and members of the local community.

Along with congregational singing, carols were performed on the evening by the school choir and guest readers shared the Christmas story.

The service was led by Canon Ian Ellis, who said: “We were delighted to have Jones Memorial Primary School with us in Rossorry Church for their carol service. This is a very special year as the school celebrates 50 years in its present site. Our link the school goes back to its original foundation in 1908 by the Jones family who were parishioners of Rossorry and who lived at Lisgoole Abbey. The children delighted us with their music and singing and led us in readings and carols as we shared the timeless message that Christmas begins with the star telling us that love came down at Christmas.”

A great evening was had by all in attendance as they celebrated Christmas and reflected on 50 years of quality education at Jones Memorial Primary School.
