A 21-year-old woman has been found guilty of a number of driving offences at Fermanagh Magistrates Court.

Hannah Reihill of Kilmore Green, Lisnaskea was found guilty of driving with excess alcohol in her blood and driving a vehicle unaccompanied while being the holder of a provisional licence.

The court heard on September 7, 2018 police were called to an address in Maguiresbridge at 3.30am.

When they arrived officers spoke to a female who identified herself as the defendant.

She was in a dishevelled state and they could detect a smell of liquor.

Reihill told officers she had been involved in a collision and following a search of the nearby area, officers discovered her car extensively damaged in a field.

Paramedics attended to the 21 year old’s injuries before a drink driving blood sample was taken which returned a reading of 116mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.

When she was interviewed, Reihill said she recalled little of events leading up to the crash.

Gary Black, defending solicitor for Reihill told the court that on the date in question, his client was at a social function and that no other vehicle was involved. He said his client attended a nearby house where she telephoned an ambulance and fully cooperated with police.

Mr. Black continued saying his client had volunteered that she was driving to police and that proceedings could have taken a different course if she hadn’t and that maximum credit should be given to her for this and he also asked the judge to take into account her early plea and record.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan said there was no aggravating factor in the incident and he was taking into account the early plea, her clear record and the difficult and sensitive issues he read in reports.

Judge Ranaghan disqualified Reihill for 12 months, certified her for a drink drivers course and fined Reihill £250.
