Under the direction of Colin Scott, the Internationally renowned Toccata Musical Productions, will present a mix of secular and spiritual classics tied together thematically in a concert called ‘Resonance.’

Toccata will showcase its vocal and instrumental artistry in four different venues across Northern Ireland including Belfast, Armagh, Enniskillen and Carrickfergus. The concert in Enniskillen will be hosted by St. Macartin’s Cathedral at 7.30pm on Thursday February 21. The concert will benefit the charity work of the Cathedral.

The set list will feature a range of songs including ‘Shadow land,’ an Abba Medley, ‘How Great Thou Art’ and many more popular numbers. Toccata’s last performance on home turf was in May last year in Belfast, when it premiered its Gospel Musical ‘ Forgiven’ to celebrate the 20 years of the Good Friday Agreement.

In 2005, the founding President of Toccata, Dr. Sunil Paulraj rushed to India with a small group of his friends from the UK to perform in a few concerts in aid of the distraught Tsunami victims. Never did he think that Toccata would last for over eighteen years. Today, the group is known nationally and internationally for its ability to connect with the audiences and a wide repertoire encompassing many different languages, styles and genres. Carrying the mantle of ‘Cultural Ambassadors of UK’, the Belfast based Toccata has touched lives in over twelve countries.

Toccata has always focused on bringing a multivariate perspective to its repertoire. The 75 member ensemble is dedicated to its mission of ‘Touching Lives’ through the transformational power of music, performed at the highest artistic level. The singers come from a wide variety of ages, backgrounds and faiths. The ensemble comprises of a semi-professional choir, some award winning soloists and a band from London’s West End. “As an ensemble, we strive for an artistic unity. We use the strength of our individual vocal qualities to craft a sound that any one of us cannot achieve on our own. It’s all about ‘US’ and about sharing that musical creation with our valued audience,” said Dr. Sunil Pualraj, a Neonatal specialist at Belfast’s Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital.

Toccata has donated to charities around the world, over £2 million raised through concert gates and donation of decommissioned medical equipment. The United Nations recognised its services to humanity and awarded Toccata the ‘Golden Rule Award’.

Kavitha Prasad, a Trustee of Toccata added: “While we take pride in the quality of our performances, what really takes the cake is our inclusivity. Our collaborations with other local, regional, and sometimes international choirs have made us richer in terms of experience and musicality. We have shared the stage with the famed Kenyan Boys Choir, besides many choral ensembles from Bangkok, India, Sri Lanka, Zambia and Kenya.”

Tickets can be purchased from St. Macartin’s Cathedral Office and will also be available at the door on the night.
