Carol Johnston, from Florencecourt, has been unveiled as the latest DUP councillor in the forthcoming Fermanagh and Omagh District Council elections. She will run in Erne West and DUP leader, Arlene Foster, has backed her to “bring a new era for Unionism” to the region.

Currently the only unionist representative in Erne West is Alex Baird, of the UUP.

Speaking following her selection, Mrs. Johnston said:

“It is an honour to have been selected as the DUP candidate for the upcoming Council Election. Erne West is an area of great natural beauty and we are proud of what our area has to offer. I want to be a Councillor for everyone in the area so that we can deliver true and meaningful change through the Council.”

Born and raised in Rosslea Mrs. Johnston has lived in the Erne West region for thirty years and is married, with seven children and lives on a dairy farm.

DUP Leader Arlene Foster said:

“I am delighted that Carol Johnston is going forward as our candidate for Erne West. I have known Carol for many years, and like many of us, she was brought up in a border region of County Fermanagh. She has proudly raised her family at her dairy farm, and I know that her humble and hardworking approach to life would bring a new era for Unionism in this region of Fermanagh.”
