A great evening of music was enjoyed by all in attendance at the Fermanagh Choral Society’s spring concert hosted at St. Michael’s Church, Enniskillen on Sunday April 14.

Throughout the evening the audience were treated to a varied programme of musical performances. The selected pieces were carefully and cleverly controlled by the society’s music conductor David Robinson and the choir was accompanied by Lynsey McCrea on piano. Divided into two parts, the evening opened with the ‘Nanie’ by Brahms, ‘Cantique de Jean’ Racine by Faure, the ‘Laudate Dominic’ by Mozart and the ‘Easter Hymn’ by Mascagni. After a brief interval, the second half seen the choir perform ‘Requiem for the Living’ by Dan Forrest.

The evening also consisted of “tremendous” solo performances from Lauren Coulter, Rosie Lendrum and David Baxter.

During the concert the choir performed alongside the Sinfonia 22 piece orchestra, which featured a great range of instruments including bassoon, timpani, harp and french horn.

A member of the Choral Society commented on how great it was to perform in St. Michael’s Church, describing the venue as “as good as any venue in Ireland” due to its “fantastic acoustics”.

The concert had great support, with over 250 people in attendance on the evening. The Fermanagh Choral Society received very positive reviews following the concert, with patrons noting the high quality of the musical performances and the choice of music. A wonderful evening was had by patrons and performers alike.
