Post Office announced on Monday that its service in Monea had been restored.
However, locals including Alex Baird has claimed this “hasn’t happened.”
The announcement from Post Office said that its services in Monea were restored on Monday April 29 with the opening of a new post office outreach service.
Councillor Baird commented: “I welcome the proposal to reinstate the services to Monea Post Office.” He continued: “It is disappointing though that while Post Office have introduced a landline to the Reade Hall at Monea and had promised to provide a service from Monday, that this hasn’t happened.
“I am confident that when the equipment is installed in the hall this will be done hopefully within the next few weeks and the service will recommence.”
Post Office have stated that the Monea service will operate from its former location,
The Reade Hall, Monea, Enniskillen which temporarily closed in March this year following the resignation of the postmaster and withdrawal of premises for post office use.
Locals, pictured above, spoke out in anger at the time.
On Monday a statement from Post Office was released, which said:
“The hosted outreach service which is now available every Monday; 10am to 12pm and Thursday; 12pm to 1pm, offers a wide range of post office products and services. Customers will be able to take advantage of a wide range of banking services including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries for customers of all the main UK banks.”
