Tonight( Wednesday) is a big night for Glen Wheeler, Head Chef at Enniskillen restaurant 28 Darling St, as he takes part in the Northern Ireland heat of the Great British menu.

The hit TV show will air on BBC 2 at 8:00pm tonight where Glen will go up against two other top chefs from Northern Ireland.

Glen is the first Fermanagh chef to compete on the prestigious TV show and tonight will see the three chefs cook their starter and fish course while tomorrow night (Thursday) will see the main course and dessert with Friday seeing judges compare the dishes of the top two chefs.

The theme for this year’s show is British music culture with Glen’s starter an ode to British hip hop and, fittingly, puts rabbit in the limelight with a stuffed saddle, cep and rabbit ravioli all united with a wild mushroom foam and black garlic puree.

For his fish dish meanwhile Glen is hoping his Procul Harem tribute A Whiter Shade of Pale, featuring john dory, will be all “white” on the night.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s show Glen said he was exceptional proud to be representing Fermanagh:

“It is a huge honour to be the first Fermanagh chef on the Great British Menu. It is a brilliant show and I have always enjoyed watching it and it was unbelievable to get the chance to compete. I loved the whole experience,” he said.
