The Impartial Reporter’s very own resident photographer was celebrating last Friday as he picked up a number of awards at the NIPPA Press Photographer of the Year Awards at Ten Square, Belfast.

John picked up a Merit Award and the John Harrison Memorial Trophy.

Alongside these awards the experienced photographer claimed two second places in the Individual Study and Provincial Photographer of the Year categories.

John played down his achievements but was delighted to be recognised for his work.

“It is very humbling to be recognised for my work among so much talent.

The NIPPA Awards are very prestigious awards and to be in such talented company is wonderful.”

The Impartial Reporter editor, Mark Conway was full of praise for John’s achievements.

“The whole team at the Impartial Reporter is delighted for John. His photography skills are unquestioned but what separates John from the rest is that he will always go the extra mile to get the best photograph he can, no matter what the job is, no matter when or where it is happening.

“This recognition among the very best in Northern Ireland is thoroughly deserved and John is central to what we are trying to achieve in this newspaper week in and week out.”
