DOZENS of protesters took to the town hall steps to protest against Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s move to suspend Parliament.
The ‘Stop Johnson’s coup’ protest was organised by Momentum Bolton - the grass-roots left wing organisation set up to support Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
It took place in Victoria Square, for two hours between 10am and noon on Saturday.
People brought signs and banners to display their support, including one which read: “If we silence Parliament, we silence ourselves. Leaver or remainer.” Protestors also shouted "Stop the coup", "remove Boris", and "get Boris out".
A number of groups were present, including Unison, Bolton Socialist Club and representatives from the local Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green groups.
Former Bolton West MP Julie Hilling, Crompton councillor Martin McMulkin, and Bolton South East MP Yasmin Quereshi were among those to make speeches.
