TWO popular Winchester pubs that are for sale have dropped their asking prices after being listed for months – while a third has joined them on the market.

As previously reported, The Bugle Inn in Twyford is being marketed by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.

An initial asking price for the freehold interest of the pub was set at £1.6million in July 2018.

However, the premises, which includes a bar and restaurant with 68 covers and terrace seating for 48, is now being offered at a guide price of £1.25million.

Meanwhile, The Corner House in North Walls is still up for sale but at a reduced price.

The Greene King owned pub was placed on the market with Savills Estate Agents at an asking price of £700,000 in November last year.

It is now listed at £600,000, with a description of a "sought after city centre public house".

A Greene King spokesperson said: “Our commitment to high quality, community pubs sometimes means we have to take the difficult decision to sell a pub to continue investing in our estate. After much consideration we decided to put the Corner House on the market at the end of last year.

"The pub currently remains on the market whilst we search for a suitable buyer for the property.”

The two pubs have been joined on the market by The Hunters Inn in Swanmore, which closed in June and brought a halt to around 300 years of history as some form of ale house on the site.

The premises in Cott Street is owned by pub company Heartstone Inns, who bought it last year for £900,000.

It is now being listed through Savills Estate Agents, with offers in the region of £750,000 sought for the freehold.

The Chronicle attempted to contact Heartstone Inns but, at the time of going to print, had not received a response.
