Summary

FA VASE: Pinchbeck United 0 Worcester City 3

Our live feed has now finished.

  • LIVE: Pinchbeck 0 City 3 (Lockett 18, Brain 31, Ross og 52)
  • WORCESTER City outclassed Pinchbeck United 3-0 to ease into the second round of the FA Vase.
  • City shrugged off Sean Brain scuffing at early penalty at Ricky Lovelace to keep up incessant pressure that United simply had no answer to, running out warranted winners thanks to goals from Liam Lockett, Brain and an own goal.
  • Demetri Brown was floored by an aerial challenge involving Pinchbeck’s James Gordon in the third minute only for Brain, returning to the starting XI after a three-match ban, to fluff his lines.
  • Worcester poured forward a will, though, with Lockett and English testing Lovelace before the opener in the 18th minute.
  • English powered forward and fed Brain whose tidy touch into the run of Lockett was taken before guiding into Lovelace’s bottom right corner.
  • City had Pinchbeck penned in but to their credit, the hosts produced some strong last-ditch defending in the 18-yard box with Brain’s effort blocked and Chris Withington narrowly clearing the crossbar from the edge of the D.
  • The second was not far away with Lockett’s inviting corner nodded in by Brain with beautiful simplicity.
  • The one-way traffic continued after half-time despite United getting more men behind the ball and the killer third came seven minutes after the restart.
  • Brown’s cross from the left over ricocheted into the path of Brain’s whose cross-shot from the far post cannoned in off Kofi Ross with Lockett poised to find the empty net.
  • Brain, Lockett and English went close as Worcester maintained pressure without being at full throttle and there should have been a second penalty when substitute Tyreece Ruddock was clearly shoved by Ross at the far post only for the well-placed referee to wave away emphatically.
  • Brown deserved a goal but flashed wide with an outswinging drive from the left corner of the six-yard box and then got denied by an offside flag from Withington’s ball forward in added time.
  • The result means City join 26 eligible teams that made last season’s last 32 and those making it through the other 101 ties in Monday’s draw.
