Local blogger Sarah Griffiths, a mum of two from Enniskillen, has won one of the top prizes in the 2019 Stelios Awards for Disabled Entrepreneurs after debuting a series of empowering workshops.

Sarah, who is determined to light up people’s lives began running her Mastery in Motion workshops in May this year.

Her workshops have been an immediate success, with people from the UK, USA, Europe and Canada signing up in its first few months. As well as running her workshops, the multi-talented mum is a published children’s writer, magazine editor, and the blogger behind the popular ‘Wheelie Momma’ website.

Sarah was born with cerebral palsy and channels her experiences of living with this condition into her work. She aims to empower disabled people to see beyond limitations and, in her own words, “create a life that lights them up”. Sarah’s eventful life has seen her have two children, go travelling, and take on skydives for charity.

Sarah is one of five contestants to win £10,000 and is also in the running for the top prize of £30,000. Four other entrants will win £5,000 each.

A record amount of 88 candidates applied for the awards this year, jointly run with disability charity Leonard Cheshire. This is a 10 per cent rise from last year.

The applications came from a diverse mix of sectors, including fashion, retail, sport and leisure and tourism.

The awards, jointly run by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation and Leonard Cheshire, first opened in 2006. They recognise the achievements of disabled entrepreneurs in the UK.

The overall winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on 22 October.
